So we renewed our vows a few weeks ago, 2 days after our 13th wedding anniversary in the Maldives! Hubby had one of those “why not” moments and I was like “sure let’s do this!” a few weeks before our planned vacay. Why 13 you might ask, there is nothing special about the number but who says you have to wait for a special year like 10, 15, or 20 right? One thing I took out of the year 2020 is the importance of creating memories now with loved ones and simply celebrating love and life!
The last year leading up to our 13th anniversary also was filled with all kinds of trials for us as a couple and making it to the other side, I knew this was what God wanted for us, to celebrate it. Recommitting to ourselves and more importantly rededicating our marriage to God was important. Let’s be honest 26 year old me didn’t quite know what she signed up for back in 2008 LOL. It was also great that this time around our kids were there to witness it!
Like I mentioned everything was set in motion weeks before our planned trip so I reached out to our hotel Anantara Dhigu about 3 weeks before and shared my idea for the day. I put together a Pinterest board which helped a lot! From the triangle arch to the tablescape I found inspiration online. I knew I didn’t want a beach ceremony and the deck in our villa would be perfect for the ceremony and dinner. The only vendor we flew out was a videographer, a friend of my hubby Iris Films. We knew we wanted to document our renewal and Tony delivered in every way.

Hubby’s suit is by Miguel Wilson. My son wore a Calvin Klein suit from Macy’s and my daughter a dress from Janie and Jack. The day started with us having fun and swimming in the pool and ended with us dancing.
