Better late than never, as they say, I visited Capri Italy in the Summer of 2019 and I never quite got around sharing a detailed blog post till today! I visited the Amalfi coast (blog post coming soon!) and during our 7 nights trip, we spent a day in Capri which isn’t considered part of the Amalfi coast but an Island close by. We took a ferry ride from Amalfi to the Island of Capri (1-hour ride) The ferries are very comfortable and this is coming from someone who does get seasick. (I usually travel with a seaband which helps a lot!)
We arrived at Capri shortly before 10 am and left on the last ferry back to Amalfi around 5ish. You can easily book a ferry ride at the dock in Amalfi the day before to ensure you get a seat (it’s a popular destination) or book online via a third-party website.
Top 3 things to do in Capri, Italy
Rent a boat
This is the best way to experience the beautiful Island of Capri and definitely worth the splurge. We booked Gianni Tedesco and the service was fantastic from start to finish. We pre-booked our trip in advance via email with no issues. Their boats are top-notch and the best part is you get a history lesson on the island and complimentary limoncello!

Stop at Blue Grotto
Blue Grotto is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. It’s an amazing spot, that you need to see in person! You can go swimming in the caves or in the ocean! I didn’t get in the water but my husband and son did and loved it! Check out my IG Reel for the video.
Visit Capri town
While in Capri for a day don’t waste time eating at restaurants close to the beach. Get on the Cable train (there is a train schedule) into Capri town. It is super inexpensive to get to town this way and there is so much to do and see in town! We ate, enjoyed gelatos and I did a bit of window-shopping. Capri town is known for its luxury stores There are a ton of amazing restaurants to pick from and honestly, the views are like nothing I have ever seen.
Other things to consider
Visit Anacapri if you have time and while you’re there check out Punta Carena Lighthouse. Capri is an expensive place to visit, so it is perfect for a day trip versus staying a few days. I wanted to check it off my list of places to visit and am glad I got to do that. Check out more travel posts HERE.
