February is black history month in the US and if you need any reminder of how amazing black people are and their contribution to the United States, GOOGLE gave us a quick reminder, with the black history video they created. I am highlighting one important person who has been making a huge impact in the film industry for years in today’s post. Her name is Ruth Carter and I’ll have to admit I only heard about her when I was invited to Ruth Carter x H&M block party which took place last Friday in Atlanta. If Amistad, Malcolm X, Black Panther, Do the right thing, Dolemite is my name, ring a bell, then you have seen her work.
Ruth Carter is an Oscar-winner costume designer who has over 40 films credited to her. She chose to release her streetwear collaboration with H&M during Black History Month. I absolutely love this fashion collection and the cool vintage vibes and everyday staples that are part of it.
H&M gifted me a gift card to dress for the event and I loved my look so much, I decided to blog about it. Everything I am wearing except my accessories is from H&M. My shoes are by Dior, my bag by Jacquemus ring by Kendra Scott and earrings by Baublebar.
I am wearing the sweatpants and the cropped tank from the collection. You can shop my sweatpants online or in-store for $29.99. They’re super comfortable and they run true to size. (I am wearing a size small) My local store has the entire streetwear collection, so if you don’t find your size online, check your local store.
My blazer is also from H&M, you can find the link HERE. I also purchased additional items from the Ruth Carter X H&M collection. If you love basic wardrobe builders, you will love this collection. Get it before they sell out (a lot of the styles are sold out online)
Thank you for reading, enjoy the rest of your day.
