Sustainable fashion is a hot button topic these days and as a fashion consumer who makes a living partly from the industry I have had moments where I felt guilty about my love for fast fashion but over the years I have found ways to balance this out by actively changing some of my shopping pattern which is why on my recent long vacation to Europe (recap coming up later this week) I decided to do something different. I rented some outfits from RTR for my trip. Have you ever considered this? There are many other ways apart from renting in which you can consider sustainable fashion such as vintage shopping and buying from ethical brands.
I worked with Rent the runway last year and shared a few posts about their service. You can see them HERE. I decided to pay for their unlimited service for this trip and it was definitely the best decision. It not only saved me money (I used a code that saved me 50% for unlimited service) I spent under $200 for 8 items but also I got to try out brands I would otherwise have not had access to.
This by far was one of my favorite rentals, this maxi also by For Love and Lemon. I wore it a few times during my vacation.
Wearing a lace dress by For Love and Lemon it also comes in white.
If you’re not quite sure if this service is for you, I highly recommend giving the unlimited service a try for a month. What I love about RTR is that you can cancel anytime. I canceled my subscription once I got back from my trip. I rented a total of 8 items (yes I signed up for 2 accounts don’t tell anyone, LOL) I needed a lot of clothes cos I was going to be gone for a few weeks.
This gorgeous knit dress is by Parker.
Tips for renting the runway
Read the review, I mean all reviews and check out shared photos. This is by far the best gauge in figuring out the right fit IMO.
Find a coupon that saves you money on the membership. Use hashtag #renttherunway on Instagram to find the best discount.
Rent a few days or more before your trip just in case you need to swap items.
Remember you might not get it right the first time but do try again.
My floral maxi is ML by Monique Lhuillier. This strapless dress with the cut out is by Amur.
Their customer service is fantastic, so don’t sweat it even if you forget to cancel. They will work with you. I am wearing a romper by Alice Mccall which I absolutely loved!
This cute Marc Jacobs purse was also part of my rental. You can buy it HERE.
I would definitely try their service on my another trip. Have you ever rented the runway?
