Getting together and creating memories and documenting it shouldn’t just be for special occasions. Yes, you make memories every single time you gather together with your friends but why not create lasting memories like a shoot that you can all have, years from now. Today’s post I am sharing tips for a great photo shoot with friends and you don’t have to be a blogger to pull it off.
First of all, special shout out to the amazing ladies you see in these photos who have been a great support system to me in many ways than I can count! Please check out their websites and follow them on social. It’s a blessing to have women in my line of work who cheer for each other.

Tip #1 Hire a professional photographer
Don’t nickel and dime here, a professional makes a world of difference. Whether you are planning your shoot in your city or when you all meet up at a destination. Do a bit of research so you can get amazing photos. A tripod might find it hard to find your angles and leaving it to strangers might not be the best idea. Shout out to my hubby Fotos By Fola for helping us with this Galentine’s day shoot.

Tip #2 Choose a theme
Plan in advance and decide on a theme and stick to it and do share your outfits in advance so you don’t have a situation where two people show up in similar outfits. Mix and match when it comes to your looks, it makes for better photos. Our theme was Galentine’s Day and we wore different items of clothing showing the colors, red, pink, white and black.
Stuck on a theme, why not just look inward and go with something you all have in common or something you all love!
Tip #3 Location
It’s not enough to be dressed but the location is as important. Scout in advance and find a location that compliments your outfits and the vibe you want to create. Google is your best friend no matter the location of your shoot.
Select outfits/colors that compliment everyone and not just you!
Tip #4 Use props
Whether your shoot is for Galentine’s day, a bachelorette trip, celebrating a milestone birthday, incorporating a prop or two makes a world of difference. The season of love isn’t complete without flowers. Our flowers for our Galentine’s Day shoot was provided by Rose Jasmine Floral Art Boutique. Contact her for amazing flowers for any special occassion.
Tip #5 Remember to have fun
At the end of the day, shoots with your friends should never be a source of stress. Leave the diva hats at the door and remember to have fun! Hold each other up and help each other to bring out the best group photos.
Ending this post with this short PSA
It is so important as women to lift each other up and be kind to one another. We have to deal with men (no offense guys) kids (I love kids) IRL and we share so much in common beyond our physical bodies, for us not to make an effort. If we only open ourselves to the possibilities, there is so much we can learn from each other(without ulterior motives though) I am not down with the users #justsaying.
Love everything about this post here!
