Swimwear and beachwear season is officially upon us and one thing I struggled with for years until recently was shopping for the right swimwear for my body. I know you might probably be wondering how or maybe you think I might be making this up but honestly after two kids (stretch marks and stomach pouch) it was hard to find something I felt sexy and confident in. I found pieces that I love on Asos and I am sharing useful tips when picking your next swimwear and beachwear PIECES. Ones that you would love and wear more than one time. The best part is there is a budget for every one on Asos.
Asos as you know is one of my favorite place to shop online because they carry a huge variety of sizes, designs and they ship worldwide. Today’s looks I am sharing all feature pieces that were gifted to me by Asos.
I love this patriotic cut-out one piece that can be worn anytime of the year. I wore this on Wednesday to celebrate Independence day. It is available for $34. I love that it still has some support for the bust area.
Shop for pieces for your current body
While I am all for the phase “wear whatever you want” wearing the right size is one rule that should always be followed especially when shopping for swimwear and beachwear. You might have certain weight goals but it’s best to shop for the body you’re currently working with.
Find pieces that accentuate your best assets
I love the way this one piece flatters my butt, anything smaller might not look this great, lol.
Don’t be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone
Just because you think one piece is the only thing that looks great on you doesn’t mean there isn’t a bikini that you can totally rock and be comfortable in. Case in point, after babies and stretch marks, I stayed away from bikinis because I felt there wasn’t any out there that would hide the bits I wanted hidden while still being cute. This bikini did all that.
Tips for hiding the tummy
Opt for bikinis with a thick band like I am wearing here. Look out for one piece suits that have tummy control and be mindful of prints. Solids like what I am wearing above does a better job camouflaging. Also look for options with ruffles, it is a great way to take attention away from the tummy area.
Tips for small bust
Wear v neck shaped bikini, it gives an illusion of bigger boobs. Stay away from round necks. Wear cupcakes or inserts for a fuller bosom and fuller cleavage.
Tips for big bust
Always go for options that have underwire/ support. There are a lot of beautiful options specific for big bossom on Asos.
Accessories makes a huge different
If you’re not comfortable bearing it all, opt for cover ups and incorporate jewelry, sunglasses, hats and scarves. Personally, I tend to go for jewelry and sunglasses. Have fun and make it yours. Below is a perfect example of how I restyled a bikini from Asos. I love kimonos too, like the white embroidery option also from Asos.
Most of my jewelry pieces are from Baublebar, I have linked all of them in the widget I created.
Slides are also as important. I love this pair by Jeffrey Campbell which I purchased from Shopbop for $70.
Thank you for reading, have a great weekend!
