Back to blogging again

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog. I know its been ages but a lot has happened in the last few weeks that took a lot of my time aside from my new baby who is four months now:) I recently went home Lagos, Nigeria for my sister's wedding which was a blast. I will be sharing a few pictures from the wedding but check out my instagram page for some pictures.
I attended a 40th birthday party with my hubby this past Saturday and I decided to wear an outfit I brought back from home. I love our African prints "Ankara" and how you can do so much with the different prints and vibrant colors available. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Shopping my closet

Happy new week and thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you had a nice weekend? Can't believe September is almost over and we are starting the last quarter of the year soon! This year sure went by fast! Today I am blogging about dresses that we buy, wear once and forget about their existence in our closets. I am so guilty of this, so I challenged myself to shop my closet more this year versus hitting the submit button and buying a new outfit whenever I have an event to attend (Hello savings!)The dress below fits right into this category, worn once three years ago. I decided to wear it to a friend's wedding recently. Are you guilty of the same thing, if so what are you doing about it?

Our little girl

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope your week has been going great so far? Today I am sharing a few pictures from my daughter's first month photo shoot taken by my hubby. It was a fun shoot and there wasn't a lot of fussiness on her part (she loves the camera.) We plan on having monthly shoots just like we did with her brother. Time flies and they change so fast, capturing memories like these ones, are truly priceless:) I ordered her hair piece from Etsy and her dress is from Jaine and Jack

Her big brother and her side by side at one month old, I see a bit of a resemblance, do you see it?

Five years later.....

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog. Its been a while since I last updated and I sincerely apologize. Life with a new baby and a toddler has been taking a lot of my time. Speaking of time, my hubby and I celebrated our five year anniversary on Saturday. Its crazy how time flies especially when you are having fun and building lasting memories.
Here are a few shots from my outfit for the night. I thought I was over the peplum trend until I was saw this beautiful lace blouse sold by my friend. I love the details on the blouse and it paired amazingly well with my red pencil skirt an old purchase from my friend's online boutique. (I wore a white slip underneath my blouse.)

Happenings

Hi everyone and so sorry for the hiatus. Between preparing for the arrival of my baby (12th of July) and having her and trying to settle into a routine, its been pretty hectic but I am NOT abandoning my blog, just a few post till I get a steady routine going. I am so excited to be a mom again! I am sharing a picture from my maternity shoot I took at Kailua Beach, Oahu, Hawaii in April. Also sharing the first outfit I bought when I found out I was having a girl:) I love baby gap and even love them more when they do collaborations with designers. Have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by!

Shoe Haul

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog! Hope you are having a great week so far? Today I share with you    some of the shoes I recently purchased from the huge summer clearance taking place everywhere! I love bargain shopping and plan my shoe shopping around this time of the year and later in December(sale time!) Nothing beats getting four shoes for the price of one right? The shoe sale starts towards the end of May and I live for 2nd cut(mid/end of June) when shoe prices are actually slashed even more! The shoe sale is still going on in a lot of stores now and online too, catch the sale before its gone:)

Classic black shoes, live for them! I have always loves the Tribtoo and this mix of texture did it for me

This Manolo wedges will be perfect for summer, love the color block and they are so comfy too!

I love sneakers, perfect for travel, errands and this will fit right into my sneaker collection

I love bling, I love flat sandals, so this Kate Spades was a no brainer

I shopped at Net-a-Porter, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorfgoodman for my finds, all online.

Blueberry Crumb Cake

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog today:) One of my favorite fruits that I consume almost everyday are Blueberries. They are packed with so much nutrients and are the perfect add-on to pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, etc I decided to try a recipe that incorporates blueberries and I ended up with a Blueberry crumb cake. Crumb cakes are the perfect mesh between a regular cake and a pie in my opinion which makes them perfect anytime of the day! It turned out super delicious and rich. It freezes well too, so you can enjoy it for a while! This recipe is pretty easy to follow but a little time consuming. Try it out and let me know what you think.
Great thing about this recipe is that you switch out the blueberries for your favorite fruit, I will be trying it with cherries next!

INGREDIENTS
Crumb Topping:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter melted

Cake Batter:
2 sticks of unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 egg yolks
1/4 cup of milk or buttermilk
4 cups of blueberries, picked over and pattered dry

DIRECTIONS
Set a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees.
For the crumb topping, mix the flour, baking powder, sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl. Stir in the melted butter. Rub the mixture between your fingers to form coarse crumbs. Set aside.
In a large mixer bowl, beat the butter and sugar until soft and light. Add the eggs one at a time, beating smooth after each addition. Beat in the vanilla extract.
Stir together the flour and baking powder and add the dry mixture to the batter in 3 additions, alternating with the yolks and milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Spread the batter evenly in a pan buttered and lined with parchment paper.
Scatter the blueberries evenly over the batter, pressing in gently. Repeat with the crumb mixture.
Bake the cake until the batter is firm and crumbs are well colored, about 40 minutes.
Cool the cake on a rack and serve and enjoy after!

London street look

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by my blog:) Last week, I took a mini vacation with my hubby to London, UK. London is one of my favorite cities in the world! From the food (I will have a post dedicated to this soon), fashion, shopping, culture, name it I love it all! I am a lil biased towards London because its also my birth place :) I hadn't visited in almost seven years so spending a few days there and taking it all in was just the perfect babymoon:) On one of the days there, here was what I wore.

Yes I did change to sneakers on my way out, lol. Comfort first!

My love for the little French cafe in Savannah, Georgia

Hi everyone and hope your week has been going great?  Today, I am reviewing one of my favorite spots in Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is one my favorite cities in Georgia. It's about a 31/2 hour drive or an hour flight from Atlanta. I have been there a few times and I think it's the perfect small city with so much culture and character with so much to offer. From Tybee Island beaches to the restaurants (foodie heaven) many boutiques and famous school SCAD (I would love to attend their fashion show next year for sure.) It's worth the drive or flight,  if you want to get away from the hectic life in Atlanta. Another big bonus is that its about a 40 minutes drive from Hilton Head Island, SC.

I fell in love with this French cafe Papilotte on my first visit to Savannah and I always go back whenever I visit. Stepping into this cafe takes me back to Paris, France which I miss :) They have the best sandwiches and macaroons. They also carry yummy spreads, oils, french drinks, etc. My favorite sandwich is the Le Parisien (Ham, Swiss cheese, brie and paper-thin slices of apple with a touch of honey-mustard on a slice of crunchy ciabatta bread.)  Are there any small cities you love and what's your favorite spot there?
